| 2007 ANNUAL RALLYE, September 22, 2007 The Annual Rallye was held on Saturday, September 22 from 8:00 am until 12:00 noon and was a great success. Crews briefed at 0800 followed by a pancake breakfast provided by the local EAA chapter 914. GREAT BREAKFAST (thanks Bob Thomas and EAA chapter 914 !!!!). The blueberry pancakes were simply delicious.
The round-robin course started and ended at Majors Field and included checkpoints at Miller Grove, Taylor (T14), Emory, and Mineola (3F9). The goal was to achieve the most accurate time as flight-planned over each checkpoint. Another goal was to land closest to a marked spot on the runway at Mineola. Following the Rallye, the Club hosted a barbecue and awarded prizes to those with the best scores. Dennis Mathis' former student, Joseph Bennett, WON the rallye (atta boy, Joseph and thanks for the $50 bill you slipped in my hand before the rallye!!!). We may even had gleaned another member from this event. A good time was had by all. The next rallye is planned for September '08. |
